"Hunger" Movie

Talking about the topic of famine in the early Soviet years requires courage: first of all, from the narrator, but also from the listener. Especially if we are talking about a documentary story. But without this conversation, without pronouncing and working out this huge trauma - even a hundred years later - in my opinion, it is impossible. You can't move into the future with black spots in the past that are several years in size - or several million lifetimes in size.

In the full time of consumption and marketing wars, reading "Hunger" by Knut Hamsun or "Sun of the dead" by Ivan Shmelev is a strange occupation. And necessary. An honest and open conversation about what happened in the 1920s in the Volga region, in the Urals, in the Crimea, in Turkestan, and everywhere where The Great famine came is also necessary. This conversation was already started in the 1990s. Now it's time to continue.
